The Brunnsteinhütte of the DAV Mittenwald section is located at 1560m on the west flank of the western Karwendelspitze. The existing hut lacks extra sleeping and dining capacities and is in need of a renovation.
The new proposed hut is managed all year round and offers 60 guest places and 48 beds.

The hut is constructed with CLT elements, which enable a quick and easy assembly. Also the dining and sleeping rooms are furnished with wooden elements.

Contrary to the current situation where the view of the hut is obscured by a gabion wall, the proposal takes the latter one down and makes the hut visible to the surroundings.
The service areas of the hut with bathroom, kitchen and staff rooms, are positioned on the mountain side and supply the hut like the backapck supplies the hiker on his way.

By building vertically, the hut’s footprint in nature is minimized. To further reduce the footprint, the cellar takes up a smaller area.
